this is a very rare guitar and in decent condition. The top is hand carved spruce with maple back & sides and a solid mahogany neck. It has all the original parts. Original hardware includes nickel trapeze tailpiece, 3-on-a-plate open back tuners with grained ivoroid keys plus the original case. Not to mention the incredible tortoise shell pickguard and bridge plate! All of which survived over the years, and this baby has seen some days. After a clean up I noticed the super rare maple and ebony bridge rather than the Brazilian adjustable saddle that was added in later models. It has a 1 13/16' bone nut; a healthy V neck shape that I just love, with a sleek ebony fretboard. Not bad for 103 years old. Ideal for ragtime, blues, early jazz or old-time country, the L-1 is a versatile wonder, comfy to hold, and a positive delight to play. I do think we have something that has a bit of historical value and has the soul and sound of some old ragtime nostalgia.
