Hey Gang - Another one from the past! This beautifully aged and well played instrument first came to us in a dream, then we awoke to find the voice of an angel on our message machine. We are pleased to offer this Exceedingly RARE 1956 Gibson Byrdland in the elusive Flame Maple Natural Finish. The guitar comes from the heirs of the original owner, who purchased it brand new in 1956. He was the lead guitar player in his band, and spoke of having to "hock" the dang thing because "having a wife, and 3 young boys wasn't cheap" But he managed to pick it up each week before the gig. It plays fantastic as it was recently setup by our in-house luthier and sounds unreal!
Body thickness is 2 1/4" (5.7 cm), frets show some wear up and down the neck as he was a definite jazz-man, although playability is unaffected. Scale length of 23 1/2" (60 cm). Spruce Top, Maple Body, Maple Neck, Ebony with Pearl Block Fretboard. The pickguard does show significant aging and wear although it is holding together just fine. Tun-o-Matic Bridge, and the coolest Alnico 5 Staple pickups. Comes with the Original Pink-Lined Brown Lifton Case. Allow yourself to give in to temptation for this incredible Guitar!
